Extremely Disappointing Experience — Business Owners, Do Your Due Diligence We hired OuterBox specifically for their expertise in SEO and expected that expertise to translate into meaningful, competent work on our website. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing. After paying thousands of dollars and reaching our third monthly payment, we began taking a much closer look at what had actually been accomplished. What we found raised serious concerns about the quality and thoroughness of the SEO work being performed. There were fundamental issues with our website that remained unaddressed, including SEO and technical problems that we would reasonably expect a professional SEO company to identify and correct as part of an engagement like ours. What made this particularly frustrating was that we were continuing to be billed while we could not identify results or completed work that justified what we were paying. When you hire an SEO company, you are hiring them because they are supposed to know what you don’t know. As a business owner, I should not have to become an SEO expert myself in order to determine whether the company I hired to perform SEO is actually doing the job. We run businesses ourselves. We understand that results do not happen overnight, and we did not expect miracles in a few months. What we did expect was measurable work, attention to the fundamentals, transparency about what was being done, and confidence that our website was being improved rather than simply receiving reports and invoices. When our concerns were raised, we expected the response to focus on addressing those concerns and demonstrating the work performed. Instead, the emphasis remained on collecting the next payment. That was ultimately the most troubling part of the experience. I don’t leave a review like this lightly. But when a company markets itself as an SEO expert, business owners should be able to expect the fundamentals to be handled correctly and should be able to clearly understand what they are receiving for their investment. Our experience with OuterBox did not meet that standard. I strongly encourage any business considering a significant SEO contract to establish measurable deliverables upfront, independently monitor the work being performed, and verify that the technical foundation of the website is actually being addressed.

OuterBox is managing our Google PPC ads across 4 markets in Texas. Since starting services in April, every month has shown an increase in revenue from paid search while spending less to get there. We’ve even started gaining ground in markets where we don’t have strong brand recognition yet, which is something we’ve been trying to crack on our own for years. My obx team is responsive, understands the seasonality of our business, and have been incredible strategic partners. It feels like they are genuinely invested in how the campaigns are impacting our company as a whole. Our sales team noticed a difference in lead quality before I even pulled a report.
We've worked with OuterBox since 2019 for SEO and paid media, and they've been a real partner the whole way. What sets them apart is how seriously they take proving their work. Everything ties back to actual lead attribution, and the reporting is thorough enough that you always know what your spend is doing. SEO is a long game and they set that expectation honestly up front, but it has paid off many times over. Highly recommend if you want an agency that delivers instead of just talking a good game.
I'm giving two stars as in the beginning when we were with them as TopSpot they were great, this however only ranged from 2020-2023. In the past year, after they were acquired by OuterBox things have gone downhill at an incredible trajectory and things were not good in the year prior to that. We have been given 4 account managers since 2020 and only one was good, and the last two were quite frankly terrible. We cancelled our account last month and are still getting charged, and OuterBox doesn't seem to care or get back to me. We were promised an official off boarding process that was nothing more than a 20-minute phone call showing me how to edit keywords and then given only half of what we were promised and only so after constant reminding them to send it. There was supposed to be another meeting and it never happened. The past year only saw us getting a performance report 3 times instead of monthly, and once again this was after constant reminding on my end. There were constant issues of me asking to turn things on like videos for display ads, being told they did so and then to find out they didn't and then receive a patronizing reason why not. There were services we originally paid for like calloop, decided we didn't need anymore and TopSpot/OuterBox would still charge us for and this went on for years and I only found out about it only after consulting with our accounting department. Really a pathetic service and you are better off watching YouTube videos and getting certified through Google Skillshop than doing your PPC campaigns through OuterBox.
