Understanding the Bird Supplies Category
The Bird Supplies category, identified by ID 3, is located within the Google Product Taxonomy path Animals & Pet Supplies > Pet Supplies > Bird Supplies. This category is designed for products specifically intended for the maintenance, care, and enrichment of pet birds.
What Belongs in This Category
This category includes a wide variety of goods designed for avian health and recreation. Based on examples from the US market, this includes items such as:
- Bird-specific dietary supplements, vitamins, and hand-feeding formulas.
- Nutritious food mixes, pellet diets, fruit treats, and millet sprays.
- Enrichment items like wooden training baskets and various bird-safe shredding or hanging toys.
- Structural items such as wire show cages, cuttlebone, and quick-lock food crocks.
What Belongs Elsewhere
Do not use this category for general pet items that are not bird-specific. Products like pet leashes, collars, ID tags, flea control, or general grooming tools belong in their respective neighboring categories such as Dog Supplies, Cat Supplies, or general Pet Supplies. If your item is a piece of furniture for a different animal, it must be placed in that specific sub-branch.
Using Subcategories
Always choose the most specific subcategory if your product fits into Bird Cages & Stands, Bird Food, Bird Ladders & Perches, Bird Toys, Bird Treats, Bird Cage Accessories, or Bird Gyms & Playstands rather than the general category.
Feed Implementation
Use the numeric ID 3 or the path: Animals & Pet Supplies > Pet Supplies > Bird Supplies. Note that this attribute is optional, but providing it ensures higher accuracy than relying on Google’s automated system.
