Dog Supplies Category Overview
The Dog Supplies category, identified by ID 5, encompasses products specifically designed for the care, housing, and entertainment of dogs. Its full path in the Google product taxonomy is Animals & Pet Supplies > Pet Supplies > Dog Supplies.
What Belongs in This Category
This category is intended for general dog-related items that do not fall into more granular classifications. Examples of items from the US market include:
- Calming vests and anxiety relief garments for dogs.
- Durable canine kennels and specialized travel crates.
- High-quality dry food and nutritional kibble for various life stages.
- Plush beds, ergonomic loungers, and pet-specific sleeping furniture.
- Interactive enrichment toys and dental treat pastes.
- Functional apparel like drying coats and durable harnesses.
What Belongs Elsewhere
If your items fall into specialized areas, use the following neighbouring categories instead: Pet Flea & Tick Control, Pet Medicine, Pet Grooming Supplies, Pet ID Tags, or Pet Collars & Harnesses. Do not group general animal items here if they belong to Cat Supplies, Bird Supplies, or Fish Supplies. Items like specialized waste management tools belong in Pet Waste Disposal Systems & Tools.
Using Subcategories
Always prioritize a subcategory when applicable. For instance, assign Dog Food for nutritional items, Dog Beds for sleeping products, or Dog Toys for play items to improve targeting precision.
Feed Implementation
In your feed, use the numeric ID 5 or the full path Animals & Pet Supplies > Pet Supplies > Dog Supplies. While optional, providing this category helps Google correctly identify your items, as the product_type attribute does not replace this required taxonomy.
