Understanding Category 404: Televisions
The Televisions category, identified by ID 404, falls under the path Electronics > Video > Televisions. This specific classification is essential for merchants selling standalone television display units intended for home entertainment or broadcast viewing.
This category is intended for standard television sets, including flat-screen LED, OLED, and QLED smart TVs. Examples of products from the US market suitable for this category include:
- 4K UHD and Full HD smart TVs with integrated streaming software.
- LED and Mini-LED display panels.
- QLED smart televisions.
- OLED display home entertainment systems.
If a product is a specialized piece of hardware like a computer monitor, it belongs under Computer Monitors. Likewise, devices designed to record or play physical media, such as Blu-ray or DVD players, must be categorized under Video Players & Recorders. Hardware components for signal distribution, such as video transmitters or server equipment, belong in their respective categories like Video Servers or Video Transmitters. Projection systems are excluded from this category and should be assigned to Projectors.
There are no subcategories for Televisions; this is the most specific designation available. Always use the numeric ID 404 or the full path Electronics > Video > Televisions in your feed.
While this attribute is optional, providing it prevents misclassification by Google’s automated systems. Remember that the google_product_category attribute is distinct from your own internal product_type field and should accurately reflect the official Google taxonomy to ensure your products are correctly mapped to search results.
