Understanding Category 596
Seasonal & Holiday Decorations (ID 596) is the specific Google product category for festive items designed to celebrate holidays or changing seasons. It falls under the Home & Garden > Decor hierarchy and serves as the destination for products intended for temporary or occasion-based aesthetic displays.
This category encompasses a wide range of festive goods. Based on examples from the US market, this includes items such as:
- Artificial pine trees, both pre-lit and unlit.
- Decorative holiday garlands featuring retro bulb designs.
- Large-scale outdoor holiday inflatables like trains or seasonal characters.
- Tabletop wooden or paper decorative tree figures.
- Specialized seasonal greenery sprays and ornamental accents.
Items that belong to neighbouring categories should be excluded. For example, general home fragrances, vases, or standard artificial flora belong to their own specific paths. Additionally, items like wreaths and garlands have their own dedicated category within the taxonomy, as do snow globes, which are distinct from broader holiday decorations. Ensure you are not misplacing general home decor, such as wall clocks or mirrors, which should be mapped to their respective neighbouring categories.
Always check for a more specific subcategory before using ID 596. If your product fits into Holiday Ornaments, Advent Calendars, Christmas Tree Skirts, Nativity Sets, or specific hardware like Christmas Tree Stands, map it to that subcategory instead for better targeting.
To include this in your feed, use the numeric ID 596 or the full path: Home & Garden > Decor > Seasonal & Holiday Decorations. While the attribute is optional, providing it manually prevents Google from miscategorizing your inventory.
