Understanding the Household Thermometers Category
The Household Thermometers category is identified by the ID 3355 within the Google product taxonomy. It falls under the Home & Garden > Household Supplies hierarchy and is designed specifically for instruments used to measure temperature and humidity within a residential environment.
Products Included in This Category
This category covers a wide variety of monitoring devices used for home maintenance, climate control, and environmental awareness. Based on examples from the US market, this includes:
- Digital and analog wall-mounted thermometers for monitoring indoor or outdoor air temperature.
- Wireless sensors and hygrometers used to track humidity levels and temperature across multiple rooms.
- Combination devices such as indoor/outdoor digital displays that include barometer readings.
- Specialized medical devices like infrared ear or forehead thermometers designed for personal health monitoring.
What Does Not Belong Here
Ensure you do not place items related to general home maintenance or cleaning in this category. Products such as household cleaning supplies, waste containment solutions, trash compactor accessories, or pest control items must be categorized in their respective neighbouring segments. Likewise, floor protection products like rug pads, stair treads, or garage floor mats should be excluded.
Feed Implementation
You can define this category in your feed by using either the numeric ID 3355 or the full path string: Home & Garden > Household Supplies > Household Thermometers. While the google_product_category attribute is optional, providing the ID is recommended to prevent automatic misclassification, which can lead to incorrect attribute expectations or visibility issues for your items.
