American Football Category Overview
The American Football category, identified by ID 1093, is located within the Sporting Goods > Athletics path. This specific classification is designed for retailers selling equipment and apparel dedicated to the sport of American football, ensuring that products are correctly indexed for shoppers seeking specialized athletic gear.
Products Belonging in This Category
This category contains various items essential for gameplay and training. Examples from the US market include official game balls, practice footballs for different age levels, and specialized football cleats for men. Items like autographed collector footballs also fall under this classification. Merchants should list products here if they are directly utilized for organized football activities or training.
Exclusions and Categorization
Products that do not belong here include gear for other sports such as baseball, basketball, soccer, or rugby, which have their own specific categories. Protective equipment for sports like boxing, martial arts, or field hockey must also be assigned to their respective categories. Coaching whistles or officiating apparel should be placed in the Coaching & Officiating category rather than this one.
Using Subcategories
You should always prioritize a more granular subcategory when available, such as American Footballs or American Football Protective Gear, to ensure the most accurate classification for your specific inventory items.
Feed Implementation
In your feed, use the numeric ID 1093 or the full path Sporting Goods > Athletics > American Football for the google_product_category attribute. While optional, providing this value prevents Google from misclassifying your products. Remember that this attribute remains separate from your internal product_type classification.
