Should I use the ID or the full path for the google_product_category attribute?

You can use either the numeric ID 6734 or the full path string. The ID is generally preferred as it is language-independent and less prone to formatting errors.

Understanding the Broomball Equipment Category

The Broomball Equipment category, identified by ID 6734, is a specific classification within the Google Product Taxonomy designed for gear used specifically for the sport of broomball. Its full path is Sporting Goods > Athletics > Broomball Equipment, representing the third level in the hierarchy.

What Belongs in This Category

This category is intended for specialized items required to play broomball. Based on products found in the US market, appropriate items include the following:

Complete broomball kits and individual broomball sticks.
Specialized broomball balls and professional-grade impact gloves.
Dedicated footwear designed for broomball traction.
Protective gear including compression girdles, pants, and specialized protective clothing.
Broomball-specific goals and nets.

What Does Not Belong Here

Products that do not belong in this category should be directed to their respective neighboring categories under the Athletics parent. For example, generic athletic clothing should be placed in General Purpose Athletic Equipment. If you are selling ice hockey equipment or ice skates, those belong in Figure Skating & Hockey. Equipment intended for Field Hockey or Lacrosse must be categorized under those specific sections, while items for other sports like Basketball, Volleyball, or Soccer belong in their own dedicated categories.

Feed Implementation

To assign this in your feed, use the numeric ID 6734 or the string "Sporting Goods > Athletics > Broomball Equipment". Note that this attribute is optional but recommended to ensure accurate Google categorization; it remains distinct from your internal product_type attribute.
