Field Hockey & Lacrosse Category Overview
The Field Hockey & Lacrosse category, identified by ID 499741, sits within the Athletics branch of the Google product taxonomy. It is the designated path for equipment specifically manufactured for field hockey and lacrosse.
What Belongs Here
This category covers gear utilized by players in these two sports. Based on examples from the US market, this includes specialized lacrosse heads, attack shafts, carbon composite complete sticks, and starter sets for beginners. It also encompasses various miniature sticks intended for practice or collection.
What Does Not Belong Here
Items belonging to neighbouring categories must not be placed here. Exclude items such as ice hockey gear, which belongs in Figure Skating & Hockey. Also, exclude general coaching whistles or timers, which belong in Coaching & Officiating. Avoid placing general-purpose balls or generic athletic wear that is not specific to field hockey or lacrosse.
Choosing a Subcategory
Always use the most specific subcategory available rather than this top-level category. For instance, if you sell field hockey balls, categorize them under Field Hockey Balls, and if you sell lacrosse goals, place them under Lacrosse Goals.
Feed Implementation
To assign this category, use the ID 499741 or the full path: Sporting Goods > Athletics > Field Hockey & Lacrosse. Remember that this attribute is optional; if omitted, Google will attempt to auto-categorize your products, though specifying the correct ID ensures higher classification accuracy. Note that product_type is an independent, internal field and does not replace this mandatory Google requirement.
